The Method
Ranking:Design is based on the analysis of the most important design competitions that are regularly announced in Germany. The ranking of the industrial designers and manufacturers results from the prizes and awards achieved for individual products in the most recent rewards of these competitions. For a better comparability competitions that are not held on a regular basis are not considered.
Ranking:Design offers an overview of the rating of industrial designers and design-oriented manufacturers. In order to be admitted to Ranking:Design the successful participation in at least one German design competitions is mandatory.
Design competitions provide data
For each product awarded a prize, the product points are calculated as the mathematical product of competition and award factors. The sum of all product points obtained by a participant denotes the overall points of the participant.
The single-products have been combined into 10 product groups. These groups are oriented to branches and should allow comparability.
